Our 2017-2018 season started off with a few changes. Rather than meeting in St. Columba’s Stirling we were welcomed to Holy Trinity church nearby. I really liked the lighting in the Holy Trinity’s hall and it looked like we would be shielded from the glare of the sunshine too. More importantly though, this rehearsal was the first one taken by our new Musical Director Ian Wilson. I was concerned to see what the turnout would be like but I am pleased to say my pessimism was unfounded. It felt like the body of the orchestra was behind the committee’s choice.
Here is a list of the pieces we played:
- Capriol Suite by Peter Warlock, a quartet that we could double or even triple some parts;
- Marche pour la Ceremonie des Turcs by Jean-Baptiste Lully
- Mountain Mosaic by Glen Shannon
- Jesus Bleibet meine Freude by J S Bach
Our next meeting will be at the Police College at Tulliallan for a weekend residential of playing from the evening of Friday 6th until Sunday afternoon. Dietrich Schnabel will be joining Ian Wilson to conduct.
